Job Title: Tube Laser Operator

Established in 1987, Triad Metals International is a privately held, independent company that has grown to become one of the premier distributors of structural steel, tubing, piling, and plate products. We are looking to hire a Tube Laser Operator to join our team in Petersburg, Virginia!

A Tube Laser Operator is skilled in operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to precisely cut, shape, and design metal tubes. They are responsible for reading blueprints, setting up laser machines, programming parameters, conducting quality checks, and ensuring smooth production processes.

Successful Candidates will be expected to:

• Operate and set up tube laser-cutting machines

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and set up requirements

• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions and adjust machine controls for optimum cut speed with the best quality of fit

• Receive work orders and jobs to process efficiently and effectively to meet customer needs

• Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications

• Set up and operate the machine on a trial run to verify accuracy and machine settings or programmed control data

• Carry out standard operations of laser cutting and choose the right cuts and fitting

• Monitor the machine during the cutting process and make adjustments, as necessary

• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards

• Troubleshoot by conferring with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve operation problems

• Maintain accurate inventory of consumable material and pass information on to the shift supervisor for timely orders of parts

• Perform routine maintenance on the machine to ensure proper functioning and perform daily maintenance of the machine

• Establish and maintain work procedures and records for all job responsibilities as they relate to in accordance with the quality system

• Adhere to safety procedures and protocols at all times

• Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications/Required Experience:

• BA Science Degree in Integrated System Engineering is preferred; or an Associate degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school; or 6 months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and standard measuring devices

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation

• Ability to work overtime when requested
